How to drive traffic to your website

You probably have a high-impact website for your company. If not, you need to. The reasons to have a great website are endless – 24/7 access to your business, self-service customer service with your QAs, finding new customers in a worldwide marketplace, etc. Having that great website is just the first step in the right direction for your business. Now the issue is getting potential customers to your website. These four tactics can help you increase your website’s traffic.

1. Online Reviews

Make sure that you’re paying attention to the reviews and ratings your business is receiving online. These reviews and your responses to them could have a major impact on whether or not a person will invest in the product or service you offer.

According to G2 and Heinz Marketing, 92 percent of B2B buyers are more likely to purchase after reading a trusted review. Getting those glowing reviews isn’t an easy thing for many business owners to do. It can feel odd asking clients to endorse or give a positive review. However, customers will often feel honored that you are trusting them to endorse you. Customers love to share their positive experiences with others, a gentle push from you will empower them to do so. If you still feel weird about asking your clients to spread good news about you, you can offer a small incentive or reward to those who participate.

On the flip side, negative reviews can be detrimental to a business. According to Fan Fuel, 35 percent of consumers say that one negative review can make them decide not to buy. However, the way that your business responds to negative reviews can have a positive impact on the way someone views your business. Respond quickly to the negative review so your customer feels that they are heard. Be polite and don’t lash out at the customer. If you wouldn’t say it to them in person, you shouldn’t say it to them online. Lastly, if you made a mistake, own up to it. They don’t call honesty the best policy for nothing. If you do these things, hopefully, people will realize your business is genuine and really cares about its customers.

2. Location Management

Think about Google Maps and how businesses show up when you search for restaurants. You’re going to want to make sure that your business shows up on that map right away when potential customers search for keywords related to your business. With the growth of “near me” searches booming, location management is more important than ever. People are searching for information about business all over the internet in various locations like Google, Facebook, Yelp, etc. Businesses need to make sure that the information they are listing such as location and hours of operation are accurate and consistent across all channels, otherwise you could be missing out on valuable customers.

3. Social Media

Social media is a great, free asset that your company can take advantage of no matter what industry it’s in. Social media may seem like an easy thing to add to your business, but it’s important to stay focussed in order to be successful. If you’re just starting out with social media, we suggest that you choose two platforms and master them – you don’t want to have too many channels to keep track of. On those two platforms, stay consistent. Use the same voice and tone that you’ve picked out for your business. Also, don’t be afraid to reuse your content – creating a content calendar is a great way to see what kind of content you already have and keeps you on track for creating/scheduling new posts.

4. Paid Advertising

Advertising online is the most efficient way to get noticed by your target audience and drive them back to your website. Google and Facebook both have features where you can enter a customer profile and create ads that will be placed directly in front of them. Another extremely successful form of paid advertising is retargeting. You likely know what this is, just haven’t heard the actual term for it. For example, if you’re looking at shoes online and then go to a different site but then see an ad for the shoes you were just looking at – that is retargeting. This form of paid advertising can be a helpful reminder to your target audience that you exist and are available for them, after they have viewed your website one time before.
