Where Can a Blog Call Home

Author: Lori Highby

Lately we’ve been fascinated with this website called TopTen Reviews. Maybe we just like lists and rankings, but they’ve proved to be accurate and helpful. The most recently viewed list we’ve investigated was the Blogging Site rankings and we’re proud to say, we use WordPress, ranked #1.

Other close contenders were Typepad, Squarespace and Blogger. Here’s a quick overview of Top Ten’s rankings, but we encourage you to explore on your own and give us feedback and thoughts you have about where to house your blog.

Typepad:

This one features some great advanced tools and statistic viewing abilities. There is also the feature that allows you submit your blog to Google, Technorati to make sure your blog is available to the public, while still offering private blogs for the more reserved bloggers. The pitfall of Typepad is that there is a fee for using it and it is difficult to customize your blog.

Squarespace:

This site is easy to set up and manage both locally and remotely. However, this again is a site that charges for its many services. If you’re willing to pay, you’ll receive great design and reliability as well as a modular and customizable blog.

Blogger:

This is probably one of the most popular free blogging sites because it is owned by the powerhouse Google. With such an influential parent company, Blogger is easily and automatically put into the Google Blog directory for easy publicity. The site is flexible if you desire it to be and if you feel ambitious, it offers the ability to create and build your own blog templates. The downside of Blogger is that it doesn’t possess any built in traffic tracking devises.

And finally…

WordPress:

It’s everything you could ever want in a blog rolled into one. There are analytics and statistics, it is advertisement free and submits your blog to Google Blog Directory as well. It’s very easy to use and an intuitive site. We’re proud to call WordPress our transportation to get our thoughts onto a blog straight from us at Keystone Click, to you.

Feel free to share your thoughts on Blogging sites, we’d love to hear them!
